"Ernie Ball - Luke"
I've had most EBMMs (my fave brand), but never played a Luke. How does it compare to other Balls (neck profile, sounds etc)?

I think you might. Terrific weight in a mahogany Les Paul.
I'm sure there are some on here who would volunteer their instruments to test your theory?

Bungo 10:24 Tue Jan 14 Re: Guitars Peach is a great shop, but arguably the best high end shop in the UK is World Guitars over in Gloucestershire.
Stock includes Tom Anderson, PRS (inc Private Stock), Knaggs, Huber, Vigier along with some less familiar but quite expensive brands.
Jeff the owner died a few years back, but they seem to have kept going at the same level without going downhill.

This shop is about a quarter of a mile away from where I type this. Although from Gloucester, I work in Stonehouse which apart from World Guitars has next to fuck all else to redeem itself! usually press my hooter to the window when passing, and Bungo is right, they have some incredible guitars in there...!

far cough neil young does play gretschs - an orange 6120 and a white falcon. the black guitar you've seen is probably his classic les paul "old black", it's actually a very old (1956?) gold top, painted black and customised.

I think Neil Young often used an old Les Paul that had been refinished black.
Lots of mods too which may be why it looks a bit Gretschy and less Gibsony?

83 squier strat japanese my old man gave to me. Sounds great for a cheaper end guitar.
My friend used to work for warwick bass in germany and started building hes own guitars, he built me one with armstrong and floyd rose trem and pickups.
My lads 18th i bought him an american fender strat 56 reissue.lovely guitar. I said he could have any guitar from gaks as long as he never sells it.
I have a big birthday coming up soon so looking to track down a pre 80s les paul standard.

Agreed. I have a Duesenberg Starplayer TV Mike Cambell edition which I paid a lot of money for with the determination I would become better at playing.
It's not worked out that way at all and I'm still shit, but it's a beutiful guitar to look at...

Built up over a long time.
Yes they are. When I gig, I take 2 x JPs and that's it. PRS etc are lovely but the JPs are my 'go to' guitars.

"I ain't good enough yet to justify forking out for a Fender".
I have a view on this. If you want it and you can afford it, just buy it. There are collectors out there with huge collections that can't play at all. You don't have to be 'good enough' if you want it.
Plus I've always found getting a great guitar has helped spur me on to play more.
Win - win as far as I'm concerned. :)

I've had a GIbson SG for years, and I've got an ESP RZK-1, which I just fucking love the look of so much, even if I don't necessarily like to play that sort of music.
Going to get a classic maple telecaster when my work bonus comes through in March.
Really want a Les Paul 25/50 but I doubt I'll ever own one.
